Dear Helen, happy new year to you from a recent reader! What I was going to say here, I ended up sending you via email, because the draft grew large and thus not very comment-like. Here I will then just say thank you for all your texts and videos and that I wish you all the very best!

Oh. One thing I forgot to recommend, the short story «Perdoando Deus» (which must have been translated as “Forgiving God”), by the Brazilian author Clarice Lispector. I have read it recently amidst my meditations and I could only thank Clarice for once again coming to my aid. It is in the book «Felicidade Clandestina» (“Covert Joy”), a collection of short stories. I specially recommend this one story because through substack I got to know you have been reading Spinoza and have had some mystical experiences of communion, so the ideas of comunion with God (or pantheism, or panentheism, etc.), which the protagonist experiences and whence the reflection springs, might privide an interesting read.

There is a splendid narration of the story done by actress Aracy Balabanian on YouTube (in Portuguese, though, if you know a bit of Portuguese or perhaps Spanish with the portuguese text by the side to follow along, you might enjoy it).

If you have never read her, I vouch that you might love many of her books and stories. For example, the short story “The Imitation of the Rose” («A Imitação da Rosa»), which has inspiration from her reading of Thomas à Kempis, I think. I unfortunately have never read her in English, only in Portuguese, so I would not be able to recommend a specific translation. Hope you like her!

Thank you for reading it. Sending you love from here! (As a physicist, I have no inkling as to how the mechanism of such a delivery might work, however, I am glad that at least my message reached you and made you glad in turn!)
