Sounds interesting, but sadly I can't get the video to play from the email (I don't have the app)

More amusingly, are you familiar with what the name "Zamboni" evokes in the US and Canada?

OMG I didn't know! How interesting. I think if you have a desktop you can open the newsletter just on your computer and it plays there... If that does not work there's plenty of people with archlutes on Youtube playing Giovanni Zamboni (should not be a guitar, which has 6 strings, whereas archlutes have 13-14 courses and that makes a big difference)

It plays for me in the Chrome browser on Android.

HDC - does the tablature give just the bass, or the melody as well?

It gives everything, even indications of ornaments. You need to read it upside down compared to guitar tab.

Nice. Puts me in mind of the Aria from the Goldberg variations (a generic resemblance, not detailed).

I think the reason the archlute is no longer used is that musicians would see all those strings, then get a glimpse of the score, and run off to join the carnival. Seriously, though, thank you for introducing us to this interesting music.
