At Closer to Truth you can see me talk to Philip Goff and Robert Kuhn about the faith journeys of Philip and I have undertaken. Due to my illness I am lying down, which is already unconventional but I feel that this kind of engaging with each other is also unconventional.
While many people like the kinds of debates Veritas and other platforms host (also e.g., Alex Connor) about theism vs atheism, I am personally not very invested in that kind of format. Rarely do we get new insights, people usually do not change their minds, etc. What I like to do in debates is try to understand how people come to their views, and where we disagree (important to establish), as well as the reasons for those disagreement.
I enjoyed this conversation very much. Robert and Philip are also friends of mine, and as I've argued in this open access paper, sometimes debating with a friend gives you better insights than debating with an adversary. At any rate, it gives you different insights. I do like Phil's God of limited abilities.
Would love to hear any thoughts you have on facilitating these sorts of conversations in healthy ways in communities
